Unlock Your Child's Potential with Small-Group Maths and English Classes for Year 3 and Year 4

Helping children build a strong foundation in Maths and English during their early school years is crucial for their academic success and confidence. Excelsis Learning is launching new small-group classes specifically designed for Year 3 and Year 4 pupils, starting after the February half term. These classes offer tailored support to help children develop essential skills, build positive learning habits, and prepare for future challenges such as the 11+ exams.

Why Small-Group Classes Make a Difference

Small-group learning creates an environment where each child receives more individual attention than in a typical classroom. With a maximum of six pupils per class, Excelsis Learning ensures that every child can be supported or challenged at the right level. This approach helps children:

  • Build strong foundations in core subjects like Maths and English

  • Gain confidence through personalized feedback and encouragement

  • Develop positive learning habits that last beyond the classroom

  • Prepare effectively for future academic milestones such as the 11+ exams

In a small group, children feel more comfortable asking questions and engaging actively. This interaction boosts their understanding and enjoyment of learning.

What the Classes Offer

The new classes run in 5-week blocks during the Spring Term 2, providing focused and consistent support. Here are the key details:

  • Year 3 Class: Mondays, 4:30–6:30 pm

  • Year 4 Class: Wednesdays, 4:00–6:00 pm

  • Location: In person at N14 4HE

  • Group size: Maximum 6 pupils per class

  • Cost: £200 for the full 5 weeks

Each session is carefully planned to cover essential topics in Maths and English, with activities designed to engage different learning styles. The small group size allows tutors to tailor lessons to individual needs, whether a child requires extra help or needs to be stretched further.

How These Classes Support Future Success

Year 3 and Year 4 are pivotal years for children as they transition from early primary education to more complex concepts. Mastering Maths and English at this stage sets the stage for success in later years, including preparation for the 11+ exams. These classes help children:

  • Strengthen core skills such as arithmetic, reading comprehension, and writing

  • Build confidence in problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Develop study routines that improve focus and discipline

  • Experience a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience

By focusing on both support and challenge, the classes help children reach their full potential and reduce anxiety around schoolwork.

What Parents Can Expect

Parents can expect clear communication about their child’s progress throughout the 5-week block. Tutors provide feedback on strengths and areas for improvement, along with suggestions for practice at home. The small-group format also means parents can feel confident their child is receiving quality attention and support.
